Value deals with the lightness and darkness of a color in an art piece. Value is the different shades in a color. For example, the image on the left demonstrates there are dark grays, light grays, grays in between grays, and the list goes on. The two neutral colors are black and white. The variations of value create a certain focal point of a picture.

Texture in design births from the type of tools and techniques you use. Texture brings a design to life, reality. you can create an image smooth, shiny, or even rough depending on what you want. For example, the image on the right uses a smooth, watery texture developing the image into water.
